My name is Dr. Kim Pusey (pronounced Pew-Zee), and I'm a licensed psychologist serving children, adolescents, adults, families, and organizations along the Gulf Coast.

I was born in Miami to two Jamaican parents and grew up surrounded by people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. Those experiences sparked a deep curiosity about people, which ultimately led me to psychology. More than anything, I wanted a career that allowed me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida, followed by my master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from the University of South Alabama. Along the way, I had the privilege of working in a wide variety of settings, including outpatient therapy, pediatric primary care, juvenile court, child welfare, forensic services, and academic medicine. These experiences taught me that every person's story is unique, and that effective care begins with listening before assuming.

My clinical training has taken me further into the southern United States. During my doctoral internship at the Arkansas State Hospital, I worked with individuals experiencing serious mental illnesses, children with significant behavioral challenges, and adults involved in the legal system while conducting forensic evaluations. I later completed my postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where I consulted on the mental health needs of children and families within an integrated medical setting.

I then stepped into higher education, serving as an Assistant Professor at Tennessee State University and later at the University of West Florida. I genuinely love teaching and mentoring future psychologists. Yet throughout that time, I continued to feel called back to direct clinical work—to the privilege of sitting with people in their most difficult moments and helping them move toward healing, understanding, and growth.

That calling eventually led me to create Kindred Minds Psychological Services. The Gulf Coast is where I was trained, where I built meaningful relationships, and where I wanted to invest my skills in return. My goal is to provide psychological care that is warm, evidence-based, individualized, and grounded in both scientific excellence and genuine human connection.

Outside of the office, you might find me exploring Mobile, AL, or Pensacola, FL, walking on the beach, exercising, reading, writing, taking photographs, dancing, or finding an excuse to be creative.
